Des isn't a grad assistant. I'm fine with him being retained as long as Napier thinks he adds the most value at whatever he needs. No loyalty hires, friend hires, nothing but best person for the job.

Bama would probably counter with a significant pay raise but I'd try to Karl Dunbar as DC. He's 20 years into coaching and has never been higher than a defensive line coach. Maybe he'd like the opportunity. He's from Louisiana, knows Napier and is supposedly a great recruiter.

Football drives the entire sports program, especially when it comes to national perception, and conference affiliation. To do this right, we have to commit to raising the bar on football.

Yes, and we certainly could have gotten a legendary coach from the river parishes for so much less. We could have had NFL coach JT Curtis. Kept everyone mellowed out with 7/5 , 6/6 records. Lots of parking near the stadium.

This is gonna price out lots of loyal Cajun fans.
