Coaches make these decisions and they don't think about the name as much as you do. They liked these uniforms because they are throwbacks to the Andrew Toney days when we played Tech regularly. By the way, Andrew Toney's point guard sat next to our group last night. He was not pleased with the late game officiating.
Cajuns have not lost a game in state since the lost in Ruston in December of 2015. Now the next two games are against opponents likely not as talented as Tech in UNO and SLU. However, both those teams will view this game as their biggest game of the year and we have to be ready to play. Otherwise we will end up like Georgia State after they played Prairie View-egg on the face. We do have lots of experience on the team so I suspect we won't take these opponents lightly.
You know this would happen as you were on the road against a quality opponent. They made some NBA threes at times and their guards could get into the lane. Add that to the fact they got every break in the last five minutes and you get the game you expect. In a way being able to hang on and handle adversity is more rewarding than coasting. When things got tight, the staff kept their cool which led to guys on the floor also keeping composure. Very satisfying win.
I had planned to go there for amusement but may not now. I bet they did not mention that when the game was over we were called something they were not "WINNER". That being said, the Tech fans we interacted with could not have been more gracious to the group I was with. What you read on social media does not always represent the fan base as a group.
It is actually 4 of 5. We have won both home games and 2 of 3 in Ruston since series has been renewed. All of the games have been exciting which is what you expect. One thing that deserves mention that I have not seen yet is the defense of Marquetti. He guarded Boykin the whole night and held him to eight points. Boykin is the guy who had seven threes against us in the Dome last year. Marquetti is turning out to be a key guy for us on both ends of the floor.
Loved the way we battled through some adversity at the end (officials/no Stroman). Stroman is key to this team but Marquetti may turn out to be something extra special. Have been very impressed with his play the last few weeks. What can you say about Gant? Smooth as silk and dominant at the same time. Looking forward to Saturday and here’s to hoping for a special season.
Wow, Congrats Cajuns! Now that was a good ole fashioned ___ kicking. Y’all dominated from tip...Dawgs we’re simply outplayed, out hustled & had no sense of urgency. Was hoping Lady Techster coach would take over 2nd half. Good finish for Cajuns as Dawgs started to battle back...great sign for your squad
This was such a big win for us. We always talk about how hard it is to win away games in college basketball. LaTech is something like 91-6 at home over the past few years. And for us to go in there, dominate a solid team from the start, and fight off a late rally + bad officiating is huge.
Time to get excited about this team. We have the best basketball team in Louisiana. Time for Cajun Nation to wake up and start giving this team the support it deserves. This Saturday, show up and be loud.
