With no decent QB and offensive line injuries, I think the rankings are reflective of the Talent available. Canada recruited the freshman, not the starting QB. Their QB of the future played little because he is a true freshman and that is part of their disagreement. As many as 3 true freshmen played on the OL at times this season because of injuries. Those facts don't change Canada's resume anymore than the problems at Florida were similar for Nussmeier this season. Both have outstanding resumes, not saying either are a fit here in Louisiana.

I'm not saying Canada is the man, but this is a pretty ridiculous comparison.

However, I do also like Houston from James Madison.

So? What's Canada got to do with Jerry Baldwin or Ray Authement? By the same logic, the last time we hired a good coach from UNA we had the best stretch of football in school history. So...hire Bobby Wallace?

I want the best guy for the job regardless of where he's coached in the past. If Maggard and co. determine that to be Canada, so be it.

Here is what I learned from the Baldwin hire.

Don't hire a coach that was demoted 3 times at his last school.

Don't hire a coach that has moved three times in three years, was ranked #72 in scoring offense this year at LSU, and makes 1.5 million per year as OC.

No good in the red zone.

    He's not a fit.

Do you realize the recruiting drop LSU suffered 2 years ago when they botched the Les Miles situation? This was Canada's first year. He had to contend with Coach O... and that is easier said than done. He moved 3 consecutive years before LSU brought him in. But they see him being worth mega OC money. What do you think made LSU rebound after the Troy loss... Orgeron's great offensive mind?

You don't know whether or not he's a fit....

It up to the AD who will interview him and our President to decide by the interview process whether or not he fits....his resume certainly warrants an interview....

Maggard is running the show, with Alden as an adviser. You won't see another brother-in-law deal like Baldwin done with these guys. And who is to say Mike Houston is a fit for our program, we are all just looking at resumes?
Stokely played for LSU, he got his coaching PHD as offensive coordinator for national champion Clemson. LSU would love to unload Canada contract. But aside from that I definitely trust Maggard over RayRay. Remember Schex had a great coach lined up and cut off at the knees.
