We had to take OLB and make them DE and so on. Bustle couldn't recruit the DL and Linebacker positions specifically and it showed. Hud came in and found guys who were physically ready to play immediately if need. He recruited the skill positions pretty well also. Yeah, he lost some guys to the schools mentioned but he also got some guys too.
Who cares what coaches Hud, and Bustle did? We just fired one for failure just like Bustle.

One thing, I’ll always be grateful to coach Bustle for SAVING Louisiana football. He inherited 48 scholarship players. Our program was on life support.

OC NC State 2013-2015. 3 of the most productive offensive years in history of school.

Named OC Pitt 2016. Only offensive coach in the 5 finalists for Asst. Coach of the Year award.

Named OC LSU 2017. Turns completely dysfunctional offense around.

He's not just an x and o guru. He has a history of QB development. At NC State he took a QB that had fizzled out elsewhere and turned him into the QB that is starting for the Colts, Jacoby Brissett.
LSU went from the 71st ranked offense to 54th under Canada. Marginal improvement at best.

And the Colts are abysmal under Jacoby Brissett, and he is only starting because of injuries to Andrew Luck, an actual starting QB in the NFL.

You seem to be doing contract work for Orgeron to get this guy hired away. If they want him gone, that's every reason not to hire him. Let him rot in Refineryville.

Do we know the reasons they want him gone in Refineryville? I suspect Hud ran off some good coaches as well.

And thinking this through, if it ends up being that he's a coach who was screwed-over by Refineryville, he might put those negative feelings to good work here.

At the end of the day, I'm going to trust Maggard's decision to do what's best for us.

I have no favorite right now because the hire may not be among those names. All of these guys bring something to the table and are certainly qualified. I'm going to wait until we can verify a few names before picking a favorite.

The calm before the "storm"! I like the way Dr. Maggard has been running the dept! Will this upcoming hire be a great success? Who knows at this point. But l am confident it will be a well-vetted, strongly researched hire. I expect it will end up being a good one. CajunNation is anxiously awaiting the news!

Arkstfan just made a comment on the Coosa forum where they're discussing the Coosa model, G5 realignment, etc. I found his comment applicable to what's taking place in our athletic department right now and shows the importance of this hire.

"Don't forget we have the witching hour coming.
TV deals for BYU, MWC, Sun Belt, and AAC expire after the 2019 football season and 2020 hoops season. CUSA deal with BeIN expires then as well if I remember right.
Also most of the bowl contracts expire after the 2019 bowls.

If someone is seriously thinking change, they will start moving on it between March of 2018 and March of 2019"
