All nice players. None look to be NFL (Rogers maybe) targets. Hud produced less NFL talent than Tech,Tulane and even previous UL coaches. Bad recruiter. I have no favorite for the job, but I hope whoever it is can bring in an immediate influx of talent. I think we are in for a 2 year rebuilding process.
my thoughts if i can jump in. i wholeheartedly believe that the returning talent is one of the main things that attracts a coach to a coaching vacancy. other factors are the obvious, pay, program history and recruiting base. sometimes you hear a coach who turned down a job offer say, it just wasn't the right fit for me or the time wasn't right. to me that means, i have too much work to do, to right the ship. not saying that coaches aren't up to challenges, but coaching is a profession that is based on what have you done for me lately, not what will you do in 5 years. i can recall several times in the past few years where a program fired a coach, then the new coach goes 9-3 or 10-2 the next year. sure coaching has a big part in the turn around, but it also occurred because the cupboard wasn't bare.
I like him more then all 3 listed. The thing I don't like about Nussmeier is the production of the offense went down at each stop he took over. Now I fully believe he can be better HC then OC but that's not a great sign. Was never high on Canada or Pry. All may be good hires but none have wow factor for me.
I remember when we were wanting to fire bustle in the mid 2000's, a lot of people really wanted clint Cinque, he was the best and most upcoming coach in football and was gonna change everything. He was 100% the hot name that fans were looking at...we can still have him, he's only at Stephen f austin...I'm obviously joking, but pointing out that the hot name and flavor of the day may not actually be the correct choice. I will back whoever we hire, whether he's a "name" or not.
