I have very basic knowledge but it means that if we wanted to hire him in that 1 year period we would have to go to the ncaa and plead our case as to why he should be allowed to coach for us. They can rule for or against it.

it's basically the ncaa way of putting a coach on suspension. comes with sanctions on the school for violations. the school suffers sanctions, and sometimes the coach suffers a "show cause" tag placed on him for future hiring. freeze is in the deep freeze.

Freeze doesn't have a show cause penalty. His penalty is a 2 conference game suspension if hired to be a coach between December 1, 2017 and November 30, 2018. He doesn't have a full on show cause penalty like Saunders.

Jeremy Pruitt reportedly being hired at Tennessee. So Sumlin is running low on options, if he really is urgent.

I think Sumlin can be choosy. I also think we present a very unique opportunity. Maggard has something to sell... Like "hey coach, come and be a hero in Lafayette. Take this program, make it yours, leave your stamp and bring us to the next level." Stop and think about how powerful of an opportunity that can sound like to a Coach. I keep referencing Kiffin, but that guy is going to leave FAU as a hero.

We can't on one hand believe that UL truly is a sleeping giant, especially with our commitment and improvement to football, but then on the other hand believe we can't hire a coach like Sumlin. My hope is that someone will finally see the potential that we all know is here.

I've been wanting to say something like that for some time now, but you just said it better.

If he WANTS to be a HC NEXT season his options are as of now:

    Kent State
    UL
    Oregon
    SMU
    South Alabama

Kent State - too far away
    Oregon - problem for us
SMU - good location for him, better conference than us, but would SMU take an aTm retread? Thinking maybe they think they are above that. Hoping, at least.
South Alabama - we are a better spot than they are.

Jay Walker was saying on Tuesday the Cajuns could possibly sway an SEC, or other P5 coordinator to take the job, giving up a 7 figure salary, for our high six figure salary.

Given the never-HC-before Jeremy Pruitt getting hired at Tenn., I am more convinced that notion is a huge maybe-to-not-gunna-happen fantasy.

I think SMU is a bigger possibility than Oregon. I think Oregon is gunna make a run at Kiffin.
