Yup, I sat in Cajun Field for the very first game in September of 1971, watched some exciting games, cheered on the likes of Brian Mitchell and Jake Delhomme. But never in all my years was I as excited about Ragin Cajun Football as that moment the ball cleared the goal posts in our first New Orleans Bowl.
Thank you Hud for that memory.
If Hud retains his position, we need an upgrade at recruiting and conditioning. Our lack of athleticism and endurance is what crippled this team for the past three years. Big and fat does not necessarily equate to big and strong. Big bellies need to be lost on our down linemen, no more butt-cracks viewed at the beginning of the season.
“ITs been a fun 7 years, that I’ll be up to them” - Hud when asked about his future after the game
The bowl games, especially the first 2 were a ball. Seeing UL play with swagger and an expectation of success (well against G5 teams at least) was great. It was fun while it lasted. The unraveling beginning with the La Tech debacle and then accelerating with the NCAA sanctions were tough, but all in all I think Hud advanced us in ways Ricky Bustle just never would have. I appreciate the good, will slowly forget the bad and look forward to Dr. Maggard making what I believe will be the best hire in Cajun football history.
He hasn't even been let go yet... and we've gone from killing him, cooking him, feeding him to the dogs... to bringing him back to life, hugging him, thanking him... are we about to have regrets and not break up?!?!
Sometimes... Ragin Pagin is a bunch of teenage girls!!!
In 2018, Grambling will embarrass us to start the season at home if changes are not made...the rest of the season will be a stadium filled with crickets.
