Well they will always have #5 Michigan on their resume.

A name will get alumni across the country to say "we hired WHO?". Immediate impact, immediate up tick in everything from tickets to RCAF to attendance. I think it matters in a big way this time around.
This hire is the most important in our history.

    All things considered, absolutely.

And? He is a good coach, doesn’t matter what side. They play good defense, run the ball effectively and have a good QB. I’m
Fine with that formula, it will win you more games than you lose. They have dominated this conference since day 1. You want to move up? You want to beat good teams? Start by dominating this conference and getting out of it. You will never consistently beat good teams from the sunbelt...ever. App state isn’t playing to beat the occasional P5...they are playing to move up towards them.

No doubt...I trust him as well to bring in a high IQ leader...integral part of proven successful program...and of high character...someone who the fans will love and rally around...should there be an opening...

Pry is not conservative defensively. I remember meeting him once and he said he would blitz every play if the opportunity prevented itself. Back when he was here we often got burned when the blitz did not get the sack or tackle for loss.

Satterfield is the best HC and staff in the SBC period. That is why his name has come up twice now, Miss. State and Tennessee.

He ran a 4-4 defense aka 8 man front when he first got here . Only difference (then) is he had NFL cornerbacks in the secondary so he could somewhat get away with it. Hudspeth doesn't have any Charles Tillmans, Ike Taylor's, cc brown, etc walking through the APC

That’s what I’m saying, I️ don’t care about the dressing..go find a good football coach who wins games. People like to say what they want or think, which is fine until “that guy” isn’t a good football coach. Satterfield wasn’t a sexy hire or win the press conference guy, he is a damn solid football coach. If we have the right AD in place it shouldn’t be hard.

I like the way that Penn State program is run. They compete at a high level and do things the right way. If he would bring that with him, I'm all for it.

Agree, he won't win here running a traditional big 10 offense of ground and pound. That's why I'd love to see will hall retained. I think he could be very good with a defensive minded coach that gets out of his way. I'm sure meat head butts into his business to much.

I've always been against the "press conference hire", but in this case, I think we need it. I want to rally the base, and make a splash. If the goal is truly to get to the AAC, and be a player in 2020, we need eyes and ears to Lafayette, LA. Truthfully, I don't think Brent Pry does that for us. I'm going to tread lightly on this one, because I don't want to trash the guy. There is a legitimate chance he is our next coach, but from a fan's point of view, I don't know how excited this hire would get me.
Yes. I agree. I think he's obviously a good coach and may make a fine HC one day but not sure how that translates here. When you are a big name P5 coach and you switch areas from which you are comfortable, you can recruit all the same just due to your name and possibly the institution you are at. Here, we need to make a bit of a name hire and someone who will perk the ears of the recruits and their coaches in the immediate areas.
