I'm gunna be flat out honest. I want to win the press conference.
I've always been against the "press conference hire", but in this case, I think we need it. I want to rally the base, and make a splash. If the goal is truly to get to the AAC, and be a player in 2020, we need eyes and ears to Lafayette, LA. Truthfully, I don't think Brent Pry does that for us. I'm going to tread lightly on this one, because I don't want to trash the guy. There is a legitimate chance he is our next coach, but from a fan's point of view, I don't know how excited this hire would get me.
Wins on the field will get the fans excited long term, regardless of who the Coach is. The actual Coach will only excite the masses until he starts playing games and loosing. Regardless of who UL hires, (assuming Hud is replaced), his first day on the job will also take him one day closer to the day he is fired or leaves for another gig! Such is the life of a college Coach!
Hud won his first press conference....hire a coach who wins games
I don't want it to come across as bashing Pry but too many Cajun fans are obsessed with the idea of former coaches coming back here. I want the best coach possible regardless of his ties to the school.
I don't mean a guy that will come in and give a good presser.. I'm talking about a name that will reverberate around NCAAF. That's what I mean by win the press conference hire.
A name will get alumni across the country to say "we hired WHO?". Immediate impact, immediate up tick in everything from tickets to RCAF to attendance. I think it matters in a big way this time around.
Mike Houston, John Grass, or Bo Pelini!🙌🏻
Only if he wins, that’s all that matters. A name is going to cost a lot...and if he sucks we are right back where we are now...paying a lot to suck. It just needs to be the right hire...as long as whoever it is holds up a conference trophy in 2-3 years nobody will remember the lack of excitement of the hire.,
I trust anyone that Maggard brings in .. this hire will be his legacy every possible candidate will be vetted thoroughly
