Thinking back over his tenure, I was so excited when he came, and remember that first bowl game, seeing the guys receive their diplomas in the hotel, man this town was on fire and we painted lafayette and NO red. I was a HUD fan to say the least. Then I remember going to the first home game of the 2nd year, and told my wife, the stadium would be called Hudspeth Stadium some day. But while the cajuns had the same record that second year, I didn't see a better team than the previous year. I was expecting better and better. Then the 3rd year came, and our D was looking pretty bad and O was getting predictable. 4th Year, Now he has all his players, I knew we were going to be better, nope....further decline. 5th year, same old problems on defense and office and QB. All these years I kept, and so did everyone else on this board, believed the stadium would be filled and needed to build new stadium.....still further decline every year. I'm serious, when I think about his tenure, it really makes me sad. I don't like anyone to lose their job and have to change theirs and their family's life, but man, its time to part ways and say goodbye. It was great at first, but he was not able to make UL better in any year after the first successful year. I wish him the best, but I am so done with his coaching style and inability to make improvements. We need a change before we're left behind for decades.
Yup. Fire Hud, We'll come back..
“I hate playing home games on Thanksgiving (weekend),” he said.
Just.........wow.
Wow. Another insult -quote from Ex-Coach Hud questioning the character of Ragin Cajuns fans. What a slap in the face. This Cajun fan, like many others, writes an annual check for season tickets, parking passes, tailgate pass, RCAF, all out of loyalty to help support the university and the football program. Win or lose I always thought I'd keep doing it every year, even with the crappy scheduling and conference. If Ex-Coach Hud is brought back for 2018, I'm done. This is OUR university. We don't have to take this.
He has taken ownership of nothing.
Is itt just me, or does Buckley seem to write more glowingly about the misfortunes of Louisiana sports?
This article doesn’t really connect the attendance drop to Hud and his coaching but instead makes Louisiana football look pathetic.
Sad!! that this is our hometown paper and the guy that covers us.
I can watch a team lose. I refuse to watch them look like ****.
He's so right that tough times are a test of character, though. He's shown his repeatedly the last few years. The immediate thought at the conclusion of the game Saturday on Twitter was "who's he going to throw under the bus for this?" And he did not disappoint.
And between this and the Lotief situation, I've never seen Buckley write the more enthusiasm or sense of purpose, Kid Cajun.
Adversity always reveals character....everyone gets to see how you respond
As a Coach one of the greatest lessons that you can teach your players is how to handle failure....
