But while the cajuns had the same record that second year, I didn't see a better team than the previous year. I was expecting better and better. Then the 3rd year came, and our D was looking pretty bad and O was getting predictable. 4th Year, Now he has all his players, I knew we were going to be better, nope....further decline. 5th year, same old problems on defense and office and QB. All these years I kept, and so did everyone else on this board, believed the stadium would be filled and needed to build new stadium.....still further decline every year. I'm serious, when I think about his tenure, it really makes me sad. I don't like anyone to lose their job and have to change theirs and their family's life, but man, its time to part ways and say goodbye. It was great at first, but he was not able to make UL better in any year after the first successful year. I wish him the best, but I am so done with his coaching style and inability to make improvements. We need a change before we're left behind for decades.
    Great Post.

Is itt just me, or does Buckley seem to write more glowingly about the misfortunes of Louisiana sports?

This article doesn’t really connect the attendance drop to Hud and his coaching but instead makes Louisiana football look pathetic.

Sad!! that this is our hometown paper and the guy that covers us.

I can watch a team lose. I refuse to watch them look like ****.

He's so right that tough times are a test of character, though. He's shown his repeatedly the last few years. The immediate thought at the conclusion of the game Saturday on Twitter was "who's he going to throw under the bus for this?" And he did not disappoint.

And between this and the Lotief situation, I've never seen Buckley write the more enthusiasm or sense of purpose, Kid Cajun.

Adversity always reveals character....everyone gets to see how you respond

As a Coach one of the greatest lessons that you can teach your players is how to handle failure....

It’s no wonder we are failing as a program

How can HUD say this? He himself doesn’t know how to handle failure.

Tough times do in fact reveal character.
Kinda like you telling the "guys you're so proud of" that they were the worst team in the country during a timeout last Saturday.

You're right coach. A lot of character has been revealed over the tough times that you've brought to Lafayette over the last 3 years. But most glaringly, it's your character that's been revealed Coach. Not the fans that are shelling out thousands of dollars and forced to defend your stupidity around other program's supporters; not the players, who as you say "continue to fight for their teammates and Univeristy"; it's not the Thanksgiving Day home game and it's not the APC.. It's not the Schedule or the assistants (that you hired, by the way); It's not the NCAA or the recruits that ultimately choose other schools...

    IT'S YOU MARK HUDSPETH.

Homecoming should be on Thanksgiving Day.

UL has had over 30 Homecoming games on Thanksgiving Day.

At the end of the day, we the fans are the customer. When you put a bad product on the field, the customer gets fed up and stops spending money on the bad product. If a restaurant opened up in town and had very good food from a talented chef, people are going to eat there. But if the chef starts cooking bad food and the quality decreases, people won't eat there as much. And the chef won't say, "look, the restaurant is facing some tough times but they are the true test of character for the restaurant and customers alike." Um, no sir. You cook bad food, we don't eat there. Plain and simple.

We have given this coaching staff everything from facilities to recruit to all the way to increased donations and fan support. It's not our fault they haven't returned the favor with a underachieving product on the field.

Listen, he can pull his 'used care salesman' shtick all he wants.. The people have spoken.

The RIGHT people are starting to sign now and the writing is on the wall. The Athletic Department is hearing us. The ADs office is hearing us. The fundraisers are hearing us. Local Media has changed its tune (and usually, in Lafayette, you guys know what that means).

Until the axe drops, Hudspeth just needs to shove a ____ load of boudin in his suck hole. Can't get that good stuff in Mississippi, jack. Enjoy it while you can.
