Sounds more like an attempt at a save face comment. She left because ML was fired and it didn't really go so well for her as expected. With hindsight, maybe her and the other two should have thought about themselves and stayed. But they didn't and that's that.

These kids don't think very far into the future. Once softball is over that's it. Was one year at Oregon worth burning bridges here in Lafayette? Had she and her teammates stayed, she would have been a legend in Lafayette.

I live by a simple idea:

If they ain’t us, fack em..

    It really simplifies things guys...

To steal a phrase from a long time RP poster, CDeb....there a whole lot of not caring going on here.

With those 3 players, we likely would have hosted a regional and super regional with as good a chance at the WCWS. And she would have been an All American again. It's too bad for us and for her. She is a Duck and not longer a Cajun. Time to move on.

She made the comment regarding chance to get to WCWS after her walk off slam to win the Super Regional. It was prior to the beginning of the WCWS. Still I see the point some have made regarding the fact she will not have much of a memory left at either spot.

From a softball perspective, the move to Oregon didn't benefit her at all.
More accurate would be they would have had a very good chance to be in the World Series had those three stayed. When the first rpi rankings came out, they were in a prime position to host a regional, but I doubt they could have hosted a Super. They could very easily have finished the season in such a way to host then see who they would have played in Supers.

The purpose in her going to Oregon was not just to go to the World Series, but to connect her with Mike White who supposedly can help get her on the national team in preparation for the Olympics.

Loyalty is extremely under valued these days.

Regionals, likely, not so sure about Super hosting. Depending on the opponent in Supers, WCWS was a possibility.

This story is not over yet.

BTW, heard a rumor this weekend that Mike was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, and Stephanie had a stroke, and is in a hospital in Texas. Anyone else hear of any of this?

I hope this is not true.

I wish nothing but good health and tidings for Steph and Mike.

I had heard about the prostate cancer about a month or so ago from a pretty good source. Sure hope he and Steph can overcome.

Life with prostrate cancer is often very long without surgery. If you’d rather live without a woodie just get the surgery and live about as long as someone without the diagnosis. Sure hope Stefi isn’t suffering.
