I don't think a team down by 3 scores can afford to play "not to lose" that's what scared teams in the lead are known to do.

Downshifting the teams mentality to 2nd gear at that point is a momentum lock.

    Spot on

It wasn't as egregious as the ULM loss and having the ball at the one and playing for the tie instead of the win on the last play of the game.

The message it sent though was a message of complacency.

I would have never thought that accepting a penalty would show urgency, but a little more urgency there and perhaps they aren't pressing "as much" at the end, less predictable, no interceptions.

However, I do have problems with not owning this proverbial floater in the punch bowl of a season and throwing players under the bus. Really hurts recruiting. That may be a stretch of a technical reason (not supporting the program) for dismissal.
Hud coaches off of coach speak quotes: "don't take points off the board"....."win the turnover battle"....etc etc. The situation comes up, he scrolls through the list of throw away quotes and makes his decision. So you guys hold the rope next week as we establish the run to setup the pass and attempt to impose our will by winning the turnover battle. I figure if our guys want it more than the other team we are bowl bound baby!

How could he possibly think his crappy defense would hold them for the rest of the game. You have to take the penalty and score TD's.

This team was in second gear at best from the opening kickoff. The body language on this team is, "I couldn't give less of a ____."

Hud: "Would you take free money? If someone wanted to give me 150 bucks for nothing, I would decline and expect them them to get more later."

That is why I thought it was the incorrect decision. If the defense had given indications they could consistently stop the Eagles running game, his decision would have had more validity with me. We had trouble stopping SLU from running the ball in the first home game and it was an issue in the last home game. Regardless of who is coach that is a critical aspect which must show improvement in 2018 for the record to improve. No. 1 rule of football is stop the run.

This episode on the declined penalty is just a microcosm of this football program as whole.........caca.

🤣🤣 That rope is cut in pieces in the back of my pickup truck.

Don’t lose to Monroe, bowl eligible with 5 home games. Plain and simple.
