Talked to a staff member yesterday. His main comment was that the staff was generally pleased with the tournament performance but not overjoyed. The Iowa game was what they are most proud of which is not surprising as the outcome was never in doubt. He said you could tell from the body language of the Hawkeyes that they knew it was not their day. They wonder what impact Jonathon Stove would have made as does so many things that don't necessarily show up in the box score. Hopefully he can play in the two games this week. They include McNeese at home on Tuesday and Nicholls on the road on Friday. If he plays (and he should) Stove may end up guarding the opponents "4" man at times in the two games this week.

Not directly related to the thread but Georgia State beat Tulane today by a score of 70 to 59. At one point in the second half, Georgia State was ahead by 19 points. That was Tulane's first loss of the year as they are improved in the second year of Coach Dunleavy. Interesting in that Tulane was willing to travel to Atlanta to play a SBC school but won't play us home and home. I get that it is different since the loss means little in New Orleans as it was not an in-state game.

A win means little in NOLA .. You are way overvaluing Tulane's support in the city

The win over Tulane is about opening recruit eyes. Doesn't matter if the Lamers have no fans in the city. There's recruiting in NOLA metro, Acadiana, Louisiana, and Miss Gulf Coast

Don’t know about that. We’ve lost some football recruits to them and visa versa. There’s absolutely a reason they refuse to play us in basketball. If recruiting isn’t it, what is?

    Perception

Yes they don’t want recruits to perceive we’re their equal. Dubillion drove LSU & Tulane fans nuts saying we’re competitive with y’all in baseball. Thirty years later still competing.
