Georgia Southern, Georgia State, UTA, and Troy likely are better than the three teams we played. Of course had Iowa played at home they would have beaten everyone but Cincinatti and would likely do the same to the SBC schools mentioned. Home court advantage for a major school is that significant. I watched part of Cincinatti and Wyoming online and Cincy won going away. We likely would have matched up better than Wyoming from a physical standpoint but we did not get that chance due to a poor shooting performance yesterday. Still, these three games are good preparation for league play. Playing at Clemson and La. Tech will likely do the same. Losing at Nicholls would be a disappointment. UNO likely gives us the best contest at home in pre conference. I believe they are off to a slow start but they are well coached and will likely improve by the time we play them in about a month.

Georgia State lost to Prarie View A&M today by 15 points today and Towson State beat Georgia Southern by 3 tonight, so I'm not sure how good this conference is at the top yet.

Towson is a decent team this year. Prairie View... not so much.

This team has so much potential. if we start playing to that potential, we will be very tough team to beat

93% of college coaches will say this at some point in the next 2 weeks.

Wow, those are bad losses. Surprising since Ga State beat Ga. Tech and lost to Ole Miss by 5. Georgia Southern won earlier at Wake Forest. Shows you have to be ready to play every night.

After going back through this thread, I find it disappointing that two of our insiders each misspelled Frank Bartley's last name. I believe his father was a linebacker for UL back in the day as well. He had 30 tackles in one game!

This is the landscape of mid major basketball. I would bet that we will have some head scratching losses this year, especially if we keep up our love affair with the 3 ball. We seem to be content just jacking shots up when we don't run our offense. Having said that, this is one of our better teams we've had and I expect it to be a fun year.

Zypher, after 7+ years of watching Bigfish coach, I have concluded that dribbling around the perimeter until the shot clock reaches 5 seconds and jacking up a desperation 3 IS our offense in the half court.

I think we scored more "points in the paint" in at least two of the 3 games in the Caymans.

That is correct; mostly in transition and in put backs by Miller, Gant or Washington.

38 pts in the paint - 8 in transition against Richmond
    32 and 12 against Wy
    48 and 16 against Iowa

And you know there is a some space between the key and the 3 point line, right?

I just wish Bartley would shoot less 3s. He has really been struggling from deep

How can Bob coach his 2s instead of 3s when you reverse your Ys and Es? He's counting on you to keep things straight BOVserber!
