Here are your options:
New Orleans Bowl
Dollar General Bowl
Camellia Bowl
Cure Bowl
Arizona Bowl
Assuming we get to 6 wins, then Sun Belt will have 5 bowl eligible teams, so every bowl tie in gets a team. Only other Sun Belt teams with a chance to get to 6 wins are us and ULM (must win out against Arkansas State and Florida State). So pick a bowl from above because those are your options.
Ok then, they are in the ball park of what we have. And even then, if they are flavor of the month, they have still accomplished a lot more than what we have accomplished.
The simplest explanation is that moment should have been the first step in the success flight of stairs. We’ve not progressed; in fact, we’ve found an escalator to take us down to the cellar.
In karate, if you start at white belt and constantly test out as a white belt, is white belt at that point not an indictment on your skill, when at first, it was an accomplishment?
Why? What does it accomplish?
I’ll tell you what. It allows a lame duck coach to add to his “accomplishments”, it gives our eunuch administration excuse not to make a move that will improve the program immensely, and it gives the jack leg media a narrative to help push the idea that the state of football in Lafayette is just fine.
At this point, 6-6 with a bowl birth HURTS UL.
After reading a number of these posts, I think what most are trying to say (and I agree), is that the NOLA Bowl is not necessarily below us, but going there (or any other Bowl) with a record less than 8-4 is certainly not acceptable year-after-year..
