My point is, at this point in our season - where the best we can hope for is 7-5 record, why complain about NOLA? If we’d go 10-2 and conference champs, then I’d see NOLA as a missed opportunity versus a bowl in Dallas or Memphis or Houston. That was my point. I learned not to complain since it can all be taken away in a flash. Notice I didn’t mention Shreveport. Didn’t say it wasn’t worth the Bowl game, but the venue sucks and the stadium is open air. My opinion, even if you hate me for it, nothing beats the DOME.
If the opportunity presents itself and that's our only option, then yes. We go to Nola. I just don't think that this should be our ultimate goal as some in here think. If you ask me, going there with a 6-6 record shows our program has declined a bit. Why is that?
In 2011, we didn't have:
-APC
-Higher recruiting/football budget
-$1 million HC salary
-Higher RCAF donations
Now, we have these resources; and with two games left, we are talking about what we need to do to become bowl eligible to the Nola Bowl.
That pretty much sums it up doesn't it? Nothing else really needs to be said on the subject. If fans want to attend the NO Bowl and have a great time, I will never have a problem with that. But if that is your goal yearly, we have entirely different visions for this football program.
Whether we win 6 or 9 games we probably looking at NOLA bowl. Boise St. toiled away for years at hometown Potato Bowl before breaking out. From the Sunbelt we'd need to go undefeated to move up to Access Bowl chance, right? Variety will be nice. None of this changes the fact the football program under Coach HUD is grossly underachieving. At this point it's surprising we're even having a conversation about making a Bowl game.
