The roar of the Cajun Nation, confirming that my prayers had been answered. Aside from the money we’ve invested, why is the NOLA Bowl beneath us now? Have they not been good to us? Aside from losing last year (which I think we should’ve won), when was there a bad NOLA bowl game with us in it?
It was a great moment for us then. But what does that do for us now? Does it elevate our program? Does it allow us to grow as a program at this moment? Or is it stagnant?

The 4 bowl games from 2011-14 gave us hope and showed us the potential this program has. But it should not be the ultimate prize. From the success of those bowls, I would like a 10 win season. I would like an outright conference championship. I would like a top 25 ranking. I would like to beat a P5 school. We achieved the goal of a bowl berth and win. But 6-6 with another Nola Bowl appearance will do none of that.

Negative. I didn't say I was fine with it. Nor did I say I was going. I'm not going to see that particular ____ show.

All I'm saying is that I'd rather we be invited to a ____ show than not. Especially if the Hoax or South Al gets invited to said ____ show over us.

    ____ show.

    Bingo!

    1) No 10 win season
    2) No outright championship in 7 years
    3) No Top 25 ranking

Another 6-6 season with another Nola Bowl appearance will do none of that!

Got it. But neither of them will this season.

My point is, at this point in our season - where the best we can hope for is 7-5 record, why complain about NOLA? If we’d go 10-2 and conference champs, then I’d see NOLA as a missed opportunity versus a bowl in Dallas or Memphis or Houston. That was my point. I learned not to complain since it can all be taken away in a flash. Notice I didn’t mention Shreveport. Didn’t say it wasn’t worth the Bowl game, but the venue sucks and the stadium is open air. My opinion, even if you hate me for it, nothing beats the DOME.

    And thank goodness for that.

Don't forget Hud has never beaten a P5 school.

I don't hate anyone for wanting to play in the NO Bowl and attending. But if our record is 6-6, we clearly have different standards of performance and vision for our football program.

If the opportunity presents itself and that's our only option, then yes. We go to Nola. I just don't think that this should be our ultimate goal as some in here think. If you ask me, going there with a 6-6 record shows our program has declined a bit. Why is that?

    In 2011, we didn't have:

    -APC
    -Higher recruiting/football budget
    -$1 million HC salary
    -Higher RCAF donations

Now, we have these resources; and with two games left, we are talking about what we need to do to become bowl eligible to the Nola Bowl.

That pretty much sums it up doesn't it? Nothing else really needs to be said on the subject. If fans want to attend the NO Bowl and have a great time, I will never have a problem with that. But if that is your goal yearly, we have entirely different visions for this football program.

Whether we win 6 or 9 games we probably looking at NOLA bowl. Boise St. toiled away for years at hometown Potato Bowl before breaking out. From the Sunbelt we'd need to go undefeated to move up to Access Bowl chance, right? Variety will be nice. None of this changes the fact the football program under Coach HUD is grossly underachieving. At this point it's surprising we're even having a conversation about making a Bowl game.

The Access bowl next year will though!
