He signed what was offered probably because they weren't going to give him anymore and he does not want to leave this area because of his parents which is probably why he was not offered more and Farmer was the AD at the time but I sure hope and expect him to go back to the bargaining table to get a bump in salary. Baseball should be making more than softball IMO.
Robe has given hometown discounts forever. Time to get paid.
Agreed. That man has run a spotless program for over 22 years here. Never embarrassed himself, his team, this university or this city. HUD has renegotiated his contract 3 or 4 times in 7 years?
Tony has his players sign a contract pertaining to expectations and behavior and expects them to honor that contract or suffer the consequences. I would be shocked if he did not honor the contract he signed. He will most certainly get more on his next contract if he chooses to coach beyond this one.
Correction...Tony is entering his 24th year.
I don’t disagree, but I doubt Tony would be the one to push the issue. I agree that UL should address the issue proactively. They may be in a better position to do so after this baseball season, as I have heard the price of season tickets will be increasing in the new Russo Park.
Yes, there were some all-state athletes for certain. In some years he signed more of them than others. But let's state facts, to my knowledge he never had another Top 25 class outside of Brignac's class. That fact is quite remarkable considering the number of consecutive regionals during his tenure and seasons ending in Top 25 rankings.
No doubt. Like I said I think we are splitting hairs. Mike consistently did more with less talent than those he competed against. A lot of Mike's players were multi sport in high school and I think that might be the key. Kids who in high school were playing two or three sports at a very high level get to college and get keyed up on one sport and one position. He was able to exploit that and hone their skills. More power to him.
