I think we, as in the school and the fan base, are giving him WAY MORE than he would receive at majority of programs across the country... and I don't imply that to mean just salary (fan support, etc.)...
How do you know he's unwilling to move? Think he has no pride, no ego? See what happens if the unthinkable occurs and his salary is unchanged in a year. Then we will find out his market value here AND elsewhere.

well we can cross that bridge when we get to it....all I can go off of is facts...the facts from his 20+ year tenure here can only be 1 of the following.....he's been a)unwilling to move and therefore willing to accept the discounted salary he's been receiving.. or b) he's been open and willing to move/chase the money, which if that's the case, why hasn't he left?...

Not a bad little snap. You earned yourself one free "non-UL" post. But be aware... to foster good relations with your fellow RP members... you should try your best to add material to an existing thread - if it in any way applies. You don't have to create a new thread... like Boomer does... just because you woke up from a nap and had a random thought. Resist the temptation!

Yep. The exception is Robe's salary discount became much easier to quantify yesterday. Even I can figure it out....

EDIT: David Pierce went from Sam Houston at age 51 ($110,000 per year) to Tulane in 2014, then Texas in 2016 $800,000 base salary and six year contract. UL would likely exceed $350K annually to replace Robe.

    Touché!

I'm by no means suggesting he should make less than the softball coach...just my original point was to imply there's no need to voluntarily give him a raise "just because"...let him ask for it.

Give it a rest. This ain’t got nothing to do with Robe. You see why Lotief was able to get away with the Us against Everyone attitude. We made a great hire in oaper. Great hires cost money. We showed commitment to UL Softball and all you people can do is ____ on that and state how Robe is getting screwed.

Come on man. He will get a new contract soon enough and make more money. He already has enough time in the La system to retire to an extremely nice living. Hell he can coach here for another 20 years if he wants to.

Next year will be the softball coach's first head-coach season. You really want to make Tony Robichaux beg for market value income after you just paid a first-year head D1 softball coach $100K more than Robe makes?

My point is only that if you make him beg, you might lose him, and for what? Then you have to pay his (likely inferior) replacement more than if you offered him perceived market value.

We'll agree to disagree, which is fine. My last point; You are gunna have to pay him. Might as well look like a hero and not make a legend beg.

    Never make a winner beg/ask/numb

Even if you are limited and have to set an arbitrary date, let them know your beneficial intensions.

Would be nice to see Ragin Cajun Softball tweets but I’ve been blocked again by yet another UL Twitter account. I’ve finally had enough with this crap. I sent an email to Jim Harris and Dr Maggard pointing out how ridiculous the people running these accounts have become. How are the most passionate fans supposed to promote these programs if they block us any time we give an opinion they don’t agree with.
