The kid essentially talked himself into a starting job.

First, of course, he spoke volumes with his play in practice while sitting and watching for the 2017 season's first seven games.

But it was a visit with UL coach Mark Hudspeth, and the conversation that ensued, that led to the Ragin' Cajuns taking the redshirt off true freshman quarterback Levi Lewis on Saturday and starting him in their 19-14 win at South Alabama.

Had a meeting tonight with the guys from Gridiron Alumni....trying to expand from our great reunion some weeks back......administration and guys like members of the board really made it happen.....probably will combine it with the golf outing next year.....if ever any R Paginers have any ideas that our group could use, please express them....just in discussion some pretty much in the know really like our youth with the same starters for 2,3 more years!,,
