I was impressed with Levi for first start. He is the third QB this season who has impressed me in his first outing.
However, all of these mobile QBs seem to be just a band-aid for the biggest issue on the offense, one that has not been addressed for 3 seasons now, and that is an o-line that cannot pass-protect. The o-line is improved this season, especially their run-blocking, but still not giving any of the 3 QBs much time. This was brutally obvious against Arkansas State d-line last week.
This is just my opinion. I have learned lately that posting your opinions on this site opens you up to personal attacks by a few (one) members by being called names you expect to hear on a middle school playground or SouthPark episode and having your intelligence insulted. But really don't give a damn. We have been Here a lot longer than those members who are making this site such a miserable place to visit and talk Ragin' Cajun athletics.
Mike, he's important but I think there's more that we're missing. This offense was running lots of misdirection, outside running and a good mix of vertical passing and short stuff. We've moved away from almost all of it. I think part of that is why you've seen Ragas stall a bit and now he's taking a pounding. Hell, we were even running a bit of playaction which I think is grossly underused here.
Even Drew throws a few head scratchers from time to time. So pocket awareness...check. Making something of nothing...that's a double check...maybe a triple check. The other 10 guys were "in" on Levi....that's a big, fat CHECK and is called intangibles. Jake had them in spades and IMO was his main attribute.
And, based on what we know, you can also add maturity and intelligence. Not sure what all of the critics were expecting yesterday, but Levi was a difference maker.
