Otherwise you would just take the two exhibitions. This secret scrimmage is really a true game with regular officials used. It's just that no outsiders are allowed to witness it and results cannot be made public in any way. I can tell you that our secret scrimmage is this weekend here in Lafayette. Opponent is a Division 1 state school that we do not play in the regular season.
One correction to they above post. You are also allowed 2 secret scrimmages and no exhibitions. Some on the staff would prefer that as you likely face better competition. Advantage of the exhibition is it allows people an early look at what the team may have. Also, gets players ready for the game routine.

We’d be better playing tougher scrimmage. We learn very little beating Loyola NOLA 107/49

Scrimmage is against a D1 school.

That’s implied in my comment, and other factual comments in the thread. Better to play 1A than Loyola NOLA.

With the buzz around this team, anything less than 25 wins and a tourney appearance is a disappointment.

    Have us pegged at #5

Erick Neal, who might just be the best point guard in the league ... Few lines down Tookie not only has the best nickname in the conference, but he’s also the best point guard.. WAT

    I love G5 basketball coverage

Picked to finish fifth by our peers.. that should be enough motivation!

    5th is laughable.
We can have a disappointing year and finish 3rd.

But hey, I'm glad they were picked 5th. Marlin can use that. I like a team with a reason to prove people wrong.

Not real surprised. Most of these predicted finishes often go by how many returning players a team has, upperclassmen and of course impact players. No surprise that Arlington and Ga Southern are at the top along with Troy. They have name players returning. No way I also think that USA and Little Rock pull up the rear either. Hopefully we will gel well so we can prove the 5th place vote is wrong. We do have some major question marks so not surprised by that prediction.

The league will be good this year. I really believe that. Maybe an upper tier G5.

I predict the Starting lineup will be the three transfers along with Bartley and Washington. The top three guys off the bench could be Miller, Stove, and freshman Cedric Russell. Russell will generally play point Guard. I would not be surprised if the three main guys off the bench played as much as some starters and on some nights more. Stove especially will be key there as he has the attitude to do what is best for team and will be a leader. Finally the squad did OK in yesterday’s closed scrimmage against a D1 opponent. I can’t comment further on that contest.
