I'm not making excuses, I hope they come out guns blazing and knock off some of those big early opponents. However you want to look at it if you want to go dancing you have to win the conference tournament. Outside of maybe a 2-3 loss season with one of those being to another very good team in the championship game that is the only way it happens.
What the "I don't buy chemistry" people fail to realize is that we're going to be starting a true freshmen. Doesn't matter how well oiled your team is, that is a huge adjustment. Playing regular season NCAA basketball as compared to leisure ball in Cuba is also an adjustment. While we have experience returning, we're losing the rock of our team for the past 3 years, and that's at the most important position on the floor, PG.

I’m holding you to that prediction.

I want to win a conference championship but skeptical of that happening with a Bob Marlin lead team. I think we will be a 21-22 win team. Hopefully we can do some good things OOC to establish some momentum.
This should be the best the SBC has been in 20 years.

I'm on board with you, Alum. I'm so excited about this basketball season.
I don't agree with the sentiment that the team will have trouble jelling early. Remember, most of the newcomers were here last year practicing with the returning players. The lone true Freshman expected to get minutes is Russell.
I see big wins early and often. Don't be shocked if we upset Ole Miss in the first game.
Get your tickets people! We are in for an exciting year!

If we are not expecting a HUGE with a capital Y year with this team, then what are we doing? To me this is the year we finally determine what level coach Marlin is.

You see, this is how people work themselves into a frenzy around here. They set near-impossible expectations and get angry when we inevitably don’t reach them.

This is what’s going to happen this year. We’re (hopefully) going to have a great year. We’ll probably lose a few games we weren’t expecting to lose (because that’s basketball.) Given our strength of schedule we won’t have a particularly high RPI. Given our RPI we won’t get an at-large bid. And unless we manage to end up with only one or two losses at the end of the season we won’t be ranked.

    Nearly impossible expectations? You’re back.
