Thread: Halfway Home: at 3-3

  1. UL Football Halfway Home: at 3-3

At midway point of the season, UL coach Mark Hudspeth believes the Cajuns could be better off if the defense had been playing better earlier

The CAJUNS would've been better off if he had started Nunez at qb from the beginning! I beleive the CAJUNS would be at least 5-1 right now if Nunez had started all 6 games.

    “At Least?”

If you think that there is any chance playing Nunez at QB would have changed the outcome of the Tulsa game you have a very bad short term memory.

Does ANYONE else feel conflicted here?
Short Term: The absolute desire for UL to win the remaining 6 games (including ASU, App St, AND Ole Miss)
    vs
LONG Term: NOT breaking .500, and improving the odds to rid us of Hud?

I get what you are saying but I will never root for our Cajuns to lose, those kids are amateurs and bust their ___ everyday for my entertainment. As long as they don’t quit, I will not quit. jMO

I wonder (and I’m really not sure the answer) how different things would feel had we made our extra points at the ULM game and sit 4-2 and 3-0 atop the belt? I know there are many other variables, but just isolating that one. My guess is it would not make much difference here as the anti hud sentiment is just too strong. But I wonder if our main stream fan base would be excited?

It was interesting to be in College station this weekend and talk to aTm fans. Many of them are ready for Sumlin to go. They thinks it’s just time. I think it’s just where we are as a society with sports that people want change and do not have the patience to let things play out. I’m not saying that is bad or good in each particular circumstance but it does seem to be how fans are.

Like CajunJack I will root for my teams to win in all circumstances. Otherwise I would no longer consider myself a fan of that team and move on

    I certainly agree.
    I just feel conflicted.
At the end of the day, neither YOU nor I have any say on what our final record will be.
    On a related note:
It irritated the #@%$ out of me to have the play by play and color guy from Thursday night discuss how great Hud was doing, how well he is liked by fans, and how great he is because he continues to " smartly and expertly adjust to the situation (like when the D sucked for the first 4 games) and always does the right things to improve when things start slow...."

Jordan Davis needs to be the starting QB... Nunez can't run so we are one deminsional in our run game.... doesn't fit the offensive style

I get what you're saying, but if Davis isn't ready to put out 100% every play, I'd rather have Nunez throwing the ball up the field and letting the running backs run the ball.

Davis is the better runner but he seems to turn the ball over more frequently. Nunez is by far the more accurate passer. He just needs to hit the check down guy quicker than he did i. The last game.

Might not have won at Tulsa, but might've had a better chance against aTm if Hud hadn't stuck with a qb that was obviously hurt and couldn't really play anymore.
