Nunez's performance was on par with the prior 2 games. Not outstanding, but it was more than good enough to win. He protected the ball and had a nice touch on the long gain in the first and td pass in the 4th.
He missed a lot of thows in the middle of the game, though. Low throws. Throwing behind and over guys moving down field. In fact, a few that were caught were entirely due to the talent on the receivers. He's got to clean that up, but it doesn't happen overnight.
I like that he was able to run a bit, mostly out of necessity, but he still got sacked a few times when he needed to get ride of the ball.
If we're going to beat stAte, Nunez has got to to be better.
If the D or O are doing well it’s because HUD is letting the coordinators do their job. If either falters it’s because he is inserting himself. This is an indisputable fact that we all know with absolute certainty.
Or he is a pretty good coach that sometimes meddles where he shouldn’t but does some good things also.
I can’t decide which it is
Haha. On offense. 1Q- Hall calling plays. 2Q-3Q - Hud calling plays. 4Q - Hall takes play calling duties for TD drive.
On defense HUD seems to take over scheme after we make a few stops. Once we give up a long pass he usually backs down and lets the defensive coordinator resume calling plays.
I have done my share of criticizing Hud on this site just as most have. I have been neck deep in my sharing of my own frustrations in watching this team the last 2+ years but I also think you have to give them credit when it is due. The turnaround they've made the last couple weeks on defense has been pretty impressive. Yards have been drastically and we've given up a quarter of the points per game over the last two that we did prior to that. Whatever reason you want to give for that turnaround, that is hopefully here to stay, he should get some credit for it.
