What I can't agree with with that line of thinking is that there's so much emphasis placed on this one season.
Okay, he turns it around and goes 5-1 over the last 6. Great. But what about the ____ show over the first half of the season? We've got a coach who needs 6 games to figure out his team's strengths and weaknesses before he can start winning consistently? And it's not like that's only a recent phenomenon. Coupled with all the off-the-field problems, that's not what this program needs.
If this was the last year of his contract or even the second to last you have a point. People keep forgetting the business side of it. You have to take it all into account. He would return most of this team after winning out and had a 1.5 million dollar buyout. If the man would somehow win out with this schedule how can anyone really say he didn’t earn another year? 9-3 and at least a shared title and chance for double digit wins with a bowl victory and we gonna pay 1.5 to send him home? I’m all for expecting more but thats crazy talk...like crazier than tiger fans. If the money was there to buy him out last year and a second consecutive losing season, 13 players arrested and physical altercation with a player didn’t get him fired...this is the scenario you think will break the camels back? Haha..at least you are safe because we aren’t winning out.
We have had plenty of years to see the "body of work" and have witnessed all we need to witness as fans of what a Hud program is capable of. I'm not impressed with it and want more then he can deliver. This University needs a more prominent football program, and should be able to achieve it.
I know you weren't. I'm just having a chuckle at the hypotheticals being mentioned. I've already posted that I don't see him being fired no matter what (pretty close to no matter what) this year. I know that bothers some... most logical folks agree and know why. Hud has another year after this one... you can literally bank on it.
We don’t live in a perfect world, but to the extent it’s possible I’m not firing or keeping a coach based on income. A coaches income should be a reflection of how wanted he is by UL and most importantly others. Believe me if I don’t want him at 2 million, I don’t want him at 20K.
