Softball rose to national prominence as an independent (the only independent at the school for much of that time) it has maintained it's status in spite of being in a conference.

Baseball is dependent on it's out of conference schedule to maintain respectability.

The Sun Belt is like being on permanant welfare and unable to recognize how much better off you would be if you went out and got a job.

I noticed you ignored the fact that Notre Dame has a scheduling agreement with the ACC because it does not fit your narrative. Why would the most successful independent in the history of college football, with almost unlimited resources, need to have an agreement with the ACC to schedule football games?

You keep up the good fight and you will be sitting in the stadium by yourself if it ever happened. I do not want to see southland conference softball, maybe baseball.

It’s not that Liberty is a Christian University. There are tons of respected Christian universities out there. It’s the fact that this particular Christian University teaches fundamentalist wackadoodle things.

I'm not a fan of the Falwell's... but we are talking about football. I could divulge even more disgusting human characteristics embedded in some of the P5 schools... relating directly to football... that we agree to play (for money mainly). But we seem to overlook those differences. If we found out that a particular university president was an outspoken atheist... would we not play that school in football, baseball, basketball?

I can see the contempt for adding another FCS come lately to FBS in our already lackluster lineup. But I do not agree that just because Liberty has some odd views in their practice of Christianity... we take exception to challenging them in athletics.

Latech, tulane, USM, Rice,Houston, SMU will all laugh at us when we ask for Home and Home without an obsurd amount of money. Why did liberty try to gain entrance to every conference possible? And only went independent as last resort? And they have money. Why doesn’t Idaho go independent? Why doesn’t every team in the bottom half of their conference go Independent? NMSU is going Independent hoping for a lifeline before they will be forced to FCS. Liberty is hedging their bets that they have enough money to last long enough to impress and they will accept a conference invitation the day it is extended.

Our Home and homes sucks now and we are only trying to find 1 or 2 a year..but yeah 6 would be so easy. You are dillusional on this. You think you are the only person to ever consider this? They are is a reason the only ones to do it are forced. However I’m sure you are more Informed on the subject than every single AD, president and athletic department inbthe country. If BYU would find a conference that would accommodate their no playing on Sunday, they would be back in a conference too.

Southland is a red herring argument.

A few years ago without the #1 out of conference schedule in the country UL softball would have been a 16 seed.

Right now UL sports teams have to do everything in their power "out of conference" (The INDEPENDANT part of their schedule) to overcome the weakness of the Sun Belt.

ps The ACC made ND an offer as a means of future enticement. If being a full fledged Conference member of the conference was the best move, they would already be in. Good teams + automatic scheduling = good move.
