Why do people want to bring their identity politics into sports? Oh, because the left finds it fashionable to discriminate on college campuses regardless of federal dollars.
Look, I don't believe that dinosaurs existed 2,000 years ago anymore than I believe a male can transition and become female. Neither can be proven scientifically. Both are irrelevant when deciding which programs make your conference more financially stable. It's about money, not about belief systems or ideology for that matter. It is about financial stability!
Southland is a red herring argument.
A few years ago without the #1 out of conference schedule in the country UL softball would have been a 16 seed.
Right now UL sports teams have to do everything in their power "out of conference" (The INDEPENDANT part of their schedule) to overcome the weakness of the Sun Belt.
ps The ACC made ND an offer as a means of future enticement. If being a full fledged Conference member of the conference was the best move, they would already be in. Good teams + automatic scheduling = good move.
Bad teams + automatic scheduling = bad move.
Give me this deal and we can talk all other talk is foolish.

"The Fighting Irish play five member schools every season. Last week the conference announced all of Notre Dame's future ACC opponents through 2037.
Notre Dame has maintained its independence because of its television contract with NBC, which runs through 2025. NBC reportedly pays the school $15 million annually."
