A first step towards playing as an independant and I have zero problem with it. They've got great facilities and a budget that probably blows ours out of the water.

Curious as why so many are against Liberty in the SBC and CUSA. Liberty goes FBS next year. As you pointed out, they have a $50M budget and that is as an FCS school. And their facilities are as good or better than any school in either conference.
I checked their schedule for the next 3 years. Very impressive.
2017 - Baylor - Liberty won on the road
2018 - Army, N Texas, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Troy, UMass, Virginia, Auburn
2019 - Syracuse (Home), Louisiana, Buffalo, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Rutgers, UMass, BYU, Virginia
2020 - VA Tech, Bowling Green, Syracuse, S. Miss (Home), Virginia, NC State, UMass
2021 - Louisiana (Home)
I wish UL had a similar schedule.
Doesn't look like other FBS schools are having a problem playing Liberty. So, why all the heartburn? Is it because it is an FBS startup? Can't just be because it is a religious school. If so, what about Baylor, TCU, BYU, Notre Dame?
Why did both conferences turn down a $24M offer from Liberty to join? Curious as to how UL voted on this. Anyone know?
