If this is what it takes to get the other SBC schools to drop their biases so that we could get them and NMSU back in the league, so be it.

We need NMSU basketball in this league. Aside from Troy, they might have the most interesting football team this season.

Also, if this has nothing to do with future SBC membership, I see no problem with getting used to scheduling as many Indy schools as possible, 'cause that may be our best future as well.

Wow Home and Home with fcs. What kind of AD we have. We need an explanation. Can not get home and Home with Rice,southern Miss, la tech, north tx, fla schools and etc etc etc. I wonder if this was forced upon us because of commish.

1. Liberty will be an FBS independent in 2018.
2. They've beaten a P5 team already this year. It's Baylor so it's not much these days but still more P5 wins than we have lately.

We really don’t need NMSU basketball. Having them in the conference costs us way too much money. The future of conference realignment will be moving to smaller footprints.

I thought Maggard was supposed to be adding all kinds of amazing teams to the schedule???

Some on here wanted to go Independent, well that's a team you play when you're Independent. From ESPN in February of 17':

"Liberty had recently tried unsuccessfully to gain membership to the Sun Belt, so it is expected the Flames will initially opt to be an FBS independent during the two-year reclassification process that will begin with the 2018 season and include three FBS home games. The program will be bowl-eligible starting with the 2019 season and will be required to play at least five home FBS opponents."

Anyway, this is not a terrible add to the schedule. Yeah Rice, Houston, UTSA, Vandy, Kansas all sound like they have better appeal, but remember, they have to schedule US too. Maybe the Cajuns aren't the most appealing home and home they want to take on.

Right now he is filling holes in our schedules, like a 6th game in 2019. The swim coach was fine with 5 home games.
