Maybe you didnt meet anyone FROM Odessa/Midland. I grew up in the Permian Basin, and that was not the case at all back then.

My son managed a Lafayette oil field service company in Odessa. They move it across the boarder in Mexico where most of the work was. He is a happy camper now. Never been there but he said it was all open land with no trees as far as the eye can see......was he right?

Their website indicates they started football in 2016 and are member of the Division 2 Lone Star conference. They went 2 and 9 last year and are 1 and 3 this year. Some of their games have not been competitive. However the picture of their stadium looks great and it was plAnned for 17000 capacity. Basketball team is highly ranked in pre season Division 2 polls

Well, Frenchie he was right. If you do see a tree out there, someone planted it.

They could have used an updated photo of the guy. That mug is like 10 years old.

Reading the credentials section of that article is just utterly hilarious.

If people don't remember Sandra Wooley, she was the former President of the UL System. So there is the connection.

I always did like his modern hairstyle (greased back and parted down the middle) with 1980's style wired frame glasses.

The thing I remember the most about Odessa is the smell. Right when you get off the plane it hits you in the face. I asked my colleague what the smell was and he smiled real big and said “That’s the Sumrall of MONEY.”
