I'd love to tell you what he makes but Penn State coaches aren't listed on USA Today coaches salary list BUT in 2016 only 12 coordinators were listed as making 1 million or more.

My opinion is most of the coordinators who would be on a short list to be the HC at a G5 make in the 500-750 range. Once you go over that you are damn near priced out of a low G5.

FCS coaches will very. John Grass who was mentioned earlier make in the 250k range. That type of pay could be double by us and he could be given a much bigger salary pool for assistants.

That money for assistants is the key. No one wants to coach at a place where they can't get their guys bc the money isn't there.

Les Miles. That would be funny on so many levels. CajunIke already volunteered a pallet of sod for him to chew on.

A smart new head coach would rather take less salary himself in order to have the funds available to put together a top knotch staff. In the end, their success is his and he'll make more at the next level.

Smart NFL quarterbacks have taken this route.

    Smart College coaches should too.

Give 'em what they need to stay focused, motivated, and work their butts off for the program. Give them all the praise for the team's success. But in the end, it's the head guy who gets the credit or kisses the pig.

    1 title not 2.

He wouldn't be my first choice but I would like the hire.

Malzahn was a successful HS coach in Arkansas when he got the job at U Arkansas. When he was headed out the door, he wanted to remain in state and it worked Astate offering him his first HC job.
