I think a hungry young coach and/or one that would be getting a raise coming here would be in our best interest. I also think we should also get someone who will agree to come for a lower base pay than Hud currently has, but with enough realistic incentives built in that gives him a chance to make (or exceed) Hud's current salary. Basically, earn the higher salary!

As a DC but not as HC.

Kevin Sumlin would be a grand slam, 600 ft homerun to win the World Series hire. You can hold me to this if we do land him.
Dynamic personality, kids love him, texas pipeline, offensive wizard, dominated the G5 ranks at Houston, basically built Houston in to what they are today (at least left the cupboard full for Herman), track record of doing more with less when at Houston, understands how to win big at a program with little to no history, would be a major splash in the press, would galvanize the fan base over night.

But I would not hate Brent Pry.
Would he even talk to us? Wasn't he used as the scapegoat during Bustle's tenure?

    Kinda discussed this yesterday.
I don't think Brent would take this job.

    Totally different regime now, though.

I agree with you 100%. As of today he has a job and unless A&M fires him mid season no reason for us to let go of our coach mid season either. I don't know if this guy would even have the conversation with our school, that is a coaching grave yard, when he is trying to resurrect his career.

Ohio had no shot in 2005 of landing a guy just fired by Nebraska, but they were too stupid to know that and hired Frank Solich anyway.

Not sure that's a good comparison for Kevin Sumlin. Solich started his college coaching career at Nebraska in 1979 after a 12 year stint in the HS ranks. The only place he's been other than Nebraska is Ohio. He was older and probably looking for his last coaching job and a place to retire from.... KS on the other is younger and I'd guess has a desire to get another P5 job. I don't know if you've paid attention over the last 50 yrs this ain't a good place if you want to do that. If KS is ready to take his last HC job and then retire this might be a good fit for him. If he has aspirations of a better job then I wouldn't count on him even interviewing.

There is no guarantee Sumlin will be even available. There is a good chance he stays at A&M if they continue to improve. Their overtime win against Arkansas may set them up for a successful SEC campaign.

You are correct in one of my previous post I stated sumlin has a job and at this point he is not looking.
