We left 21 down. Tell me we didn't pull a Tech and set off the post game fireworks after a loss.
Did anyone go to the RCAF event last night at Blackham Coliseum? HUD gave one of his pep talks with virtually no one even paying attention to him. At one point I almost wondered if he was going to stop his speech and ask everyone to pay attention.
I know that is the "rule of thumb,"
However, if you consider the missed FG/Extra points by Cajun place kickers, the way ULM moved the ball at will ALL game, how ULM Defense seemed to be on their heels at end of regulation, the way Raggas and Mitchell averaged 5+ yards/carry, AND the roughing the passer penalty that put the ball half the distance to the goal you should realize that this wasn't a "rule of thumb" situation and a little common sense would tell you that the best chance Cajuns had of winning was to convert the 2-point conversion for the win.
Just totally disgusting. No other way to look at this loss. I swear, I think our football program is cursed. Nothing we do ever seems to be enough to get us over the hump of mediocrity. I'll be surprised if we have 10,000 in attendance at our next home game. That's how small time our football program is today. It's embarrassing.
Everyone around me was "baffled" by HUD NOT going for the 2 point conversion after the penalty! Like we ALL saw WE RAN on them at will, yet I am NOT sure who DID not NAD up, and ram it DOWN their throats, like THEY did on the last play in OT! There is a lot of Talent on the Offense, and Defense has some too, but Defense more than offense NEEDS a lot of work. ULM had more total yards in the first half than they had in total the past 2 games combined!
First off, that's the one thing that I did not fault him for. JD was obviously not ready to play. He seemed healthy buy had something else going on and he looked terrible. He needed to get the hook. When asked the question, what else are you going to say? I heard the interview and I didn't think it was bad. He just said he wasn't ready and didn't have a good look in his eye. We will bash him either way when he answers. If he's too vague, we will say he doesn't have the balls to say whats going on and if he's candid, we will bash him saying he is throwing him under the bus.
The "deer in the headlights" comment was unnecessary. You say simply something like this:
"JD was not ready to return and we noticed it when he was got on the field Saturday. The coaching staff did not do a good job at recognizing that this week so we had to make the call based on his play. Nunez did a great job coming in when we needed him to."
