One day we will get a coach who looks at these games as a chance to advance UL and thus his career.

    One day.

If I were to design a medal system for G5 schools to award them for football program advancement this would be the ranking system in decreasing order of importance:

    1- Major Bowl victory
    2- Major Bowl appearance
    3- Final Top 25 ranking
    4- Mid-season Top 25 ranking
    5- Victory over Top 10
    6- Victory over Top 25
    7- Victory over P5
    8- Conference Championship
    9- Minor Bowl victory
    10- Minor Bowl appearance

We should always try to schedule home and home with programs like USM, Louisiana Tech, UAB, Rice, SMU, Tulane. We should also reach out to Top G5 programs like Houston and Boise State. We have to beat programs like that before we over challenge a program that is still not on the level of USM and Louisiana Tech.

You mention Mississippi State and Ole Miss, but do to recent events they may not be on the level of Alabama, but it wasn't a few year back that both were in the TOP 10. Those SEC program's success are cyclical but nothing like South Carolina. We should stay away from playing multiple SEC programs per season unless we can schedule a South Carolina or Vanderbilt.

Yes, I want to challenge my program but I also want to give it a fair opportunity to grow and be successful. And that starts by defeating quality regional G5 programs, Top G5 programs and bottom tier P5 programs. That formula makes way more sense to me as a fan.
that leaves us with 5 home games every year, doesnt make the fan base to happy. scheduling is tough as shyt trying to raise money, generate fan interest and give your team a chance.

From what I understand the AD agrees with that scheduling strategy.

After reading that inspiring National championship thread the other day....I say book Bama, Clemson, FSU, Florida, whoever every year... we'll never even make the playoff if we don't play the best during the regular season

Four out of conference games, 8 conference games. If you don't play 2 P5 programs each season, we should be able to play 6 home and 6 road, or 7 home and 5 road.

Cant argue with 1-6; however, i think 8 and 9 are better than your #7.

Regardless of what else happens, we always get a chance for 7. And get paid to do it.

Is the fault with us, or with the so called big boys who refuse (scared) to play on road. But glad your google alert still works, i prefer bing

It makes no sense for these big programs to bypass a 5-6 million dollar payday to play on the road against any G5 team. It's why they all have 8 home games.
