We've played Arizona and Kansas State to name a few. If you are playing two top ranked P5 programs a year, is it really about challenging your program or money?
Bama qualifies as a school I would stay away from for the time being, but I am certainly not gonna wet the bed over it.

TAMU, Ole Miss, and Starkville do not qualify for that list.

Basically, look at a composite top 10 list of the last 5 years or so. if possible, I would seek P5 programs to schedule not on that list.

I'm guessing that the Bama game was put on the schedule to get the big payday to cover for the loss of a payday due to playing Starkville in Nola later. If so, I'm fine with that.

well the P5 against Miss St is part of the deal with them playing in the dome the year after. everyone wants two for 1's to get a good home game (i know the dome isnt home) at some point, you have to go to their place to play the two games, thus resulting in two road games against a P5, bc you arent getting the guarantee check.

Huh? We play two P5 road games, right? Isn't every SEC school playing at least four?

So...most schools on our level did a 2 for 1 to get a game at their actual home stadium.

We did 2 for 1 for a game in NOLA? Good job, Scott Farmer. You got paid too much.

is it two for one, or one for one, with ours being in NOLA?

I don't know. I assumed, maybe wrongly, from your above comment that we did a 2 for 1.

Guys, you're looking at these P5 money games all wrong. We could get throttled just as bad right now by SBC programs. We make way more money taking those azz kickings if we play top P5 programs. We are just as likely to get hurt playing D3 football teams. We've gone over that 100 times.

And that really is my point, Farmer scheduled these games because of economics. He wasn't raising money and used future scheduling as a revenue source. If we are in need of the revenue now because of the economy, then I would hope Maggard would come forward as he works on future schedules and tells his supporters why he must proceed in that direction.

For UL to achieve its potential it needs 5 or 6 games a year against Alabama caliber teams.

I'm for a more balanced approach of playing another G5 program like USM, or TOP G5 program like Boise State , one FCS program and two P5 programs like Mississippi State and Missouri.

We should always try to schedule home and home with programs like USM, Louisiana Tech, UAB, Rice, SMU, Tulane. We should also reach out to Top G5 programs like Houston and Boise State. We have to beat programs like that before we over challenge a program that is still not on the level of USM and Louisiana Tech.

You mention Mississippi State and Ole Miss, but do to recent events they may not be on the level of Alabama, but it wasn't a few year back that both were in the TOP 10. Those SEC program's success are cyclical but nothing like South Carolina. We should stay away from playing multiple SEC programs per season unless we can schedule a South Carolina or Vanderbilt.

Yes, I want to challenge my program but I also want to give it a fair opportunity to grow and be successful. And that starts by defeating quality regional G5 programs, Top G5 programs and bottom tier P5 programs. That formula makes way more sense to me as a fan.

I'm not saying I agree that is a reason not to play.
    And
The players aren't pu ssies like the typical RP poster. They relish the opportunity to prove that the bigger schools messed up no offering a scholarship to them.

I agree and I personally think we should schedule at least two of these a year.
