More pics from yesterday. The building at the corner of Johnston and Lewis....where the retail space will be....got a later start, but is progressing nicely.
The pic from the day care center show that main part is getting close to being finished.
The complex is getting close to completed; the signs say ready for occupants Fall 2019.
The first view is from Lewis St looking towards Johnston.
The second view is what it looks like at the St. Julien/Johnston St intersection.
Also, and this is great news: they have finally demolished all the sheds alond S. Campus Dr, between Cajun Village and the coulee. The only building remaining is the Shipping/Receiving building, which is getting renovated. Some nice parking lots are going up where the sheds were, and also where Stokes used to be.
Cool.
Thanks
BTW, the only thing I can see still left to be done on the main campus is to demolish Cajun Village and replace them with more modern housing for upper classmen. That's what is listed in the master plan, and we have also gotten permission to demolish CV by the ULS board last year.
Not sure when that will happen though, as with the completion of the new complex set to open this fall, we will meet the goal of enough on-campus housing for 5K students. This is pretty amazing if you think where we were just 5-6 years ago, and especially given our limited space on the main campus.
Well, more.......much needed.....demolition: the ugly buildings in front of the new dorm complex (the tacky auto store, the old McDonalds, etc) have now been demolished. I have no clue what's going up in their place, but anything will look better than what was there before. I also am pretty sure that UL is the new owner of the now empty lot, but have nothing official to go on.
