How about we lost because they were better?
How about we lost because they were better?
If you make $14 an hour and tickets cost you $22 it is no different than if you make $42 an hour and tickets cost you $66
Just be glad you make $42 and most of your tickets (if not all) this year will be a lot less than $66
edit ps: Weekly wages may vary.![]()
Jesus. The end result is you want at least 1 more point than the other team. You can't scale that!
If you are losing 22-14 with the ball on the other team's 1 with 5 seconds left you still have a chance to tie and go to overtime. Same scenario, down 66-42.....where are you?
Your analysis is silly.
Unless you are calling for 3.5 yards and a pile of dust per play your angst factor shouldn't change.
In a high scoring game your ability to make quick decisions changes dramatically, either you are used to it or it is new to you.
If you are NOT used to it you make decisions like prematurely going for 2, an early onside kick, repeating the same failed trick play, poor WC QB substitutions, throwing away a 3rd down when you SHOULD know you are willing to go for it on 4th. (and that's just offensive decisions)
If you are not used to thinking quickly you don't realize you are willing to go for it on 4th until the time arrives.
Tempo Changes Everything, but it shouldn't budge how you feel about losing the game.
UL had a better average gain per play than Tulsa but it seems the ability to make clear concise decisions on offense at key moments in the game put the defense in position to have to make many more stops than Tulsa's defense had to make.
The shear number of plays brings the "key play" up from 1-2 to 5 or more.
Tempo Changes Everything
So all we needed to do was scale ourselves a 24 point game tying touchdown. Duly noted.
You can lose and be competitive. I don't think we were competitive. I'm not interested in whose defense sucked more. I'm I interested in winning, and how you win matters. I wouldn't feel one bit better if we scored 67 and won. I'd still know we've got an enormous problem.
