Thread: Hudspeth searching for answers

Giving up gaudy rushing yards has been an issue since Stewart was our DC. Lucas is running Hud's defense. The problem is...I do not think Lucas is a capable DC...just more of a yes man willing to do Hud's bidding. See Munoz last year on offense. We have a carpenter to fix a collapsed interstate bridge. Ill-equipped.

The "SWARM" defense phrase (and its associated turnover mandate) was used by Hud and Co. in the past. It was not used by Lucas last year. His use of it this year shows the hand of Hud.

Lucas did a fantastic job in 16 coming off the bench designing a quick fix for the defense, he should have been left to his own designs again.

Lucas sucks... he sucked as a HC at Southeastern (19-37) and he sucks as a DC here.

Lucas was a great DC at Sam Houston.

That does not mean he was qualified to be a head coach.

    The Dion Ray Package.

    The Swarm(Create Turnovers) Defense.

Both of these things stick out like sore thumbs as baggage that needs to be thrown out if we are to get this train to the destination.

This is what a sane coach would do.

Lucas did a good job last year. Probably the best D we've had since 06. All signs point to lack of personnel or players not executing.

I'd be asking Dion if he wants to try his hand at outside linebacker.

    No.

I would be telling Dion that he is being moved to LB.

If he refuses, show him the door.

With the same personnel that got his predecessor booted.

I wonder what Ray and Davis would look like in the backfield together?

Probably great, but this offense seems to have plenty of weapons and Rays talent is being wasted. I'd sure like to see his size and speed used somewhere on the field. I'm sure he is our true #2 QB though if Davis went down.
