Do we run a dumpster fire of a program... under coaches that don't have it... just to embrace an athlete or four?
    2. Mike is right... that this thread and bashing the coach is pointless... except to vent. And that is the sad reality of our existence. Even when we need to dump a coach... we can't. Hud could have gone 0-12 last year... and be set to go 0-12 this year... and Mike would be right about this thread. But it in no way invalidates the examination of Hud's 7 years and where we are right now.
    3. "We weren't supposed to win last night or next week" is precisely why we are all mad. When Hud came in 7 years ago... and blew reams of "sleeping giant" smoke up our rear ends... who thought we'd give up 60+ to Tulsa in year 7... and have fans defend it?
    4. Unless one of you has the power to actually shut down the year and regroup... threads like this are perfectly fine. Those of you wearing lace around your underwear need to stop being frightened by upset fans. We aren't storming Cajun Field with pitch forks. This is a forum to vent and discuss the disgust of our football coaching ineptness.
    5. And once again... there is no distinction between "he can't coach... but he can recruit" and "he can't recruit... but he can coach". That's like saying "he can make the car go fast... but he can't drive". Coaches that can coach don't have trouble recruiting... and coaches that recruit don't have trouble coaching. Keep that in your fan playbook... and it will keep you from making dumb statements about college coaches.

We've been getting heated up about Hud... and there's no reason we shouldn't. He's choosing the staff and the athletes with that staff. It's on him. All of it. Hud barely edged out a win over SLU at Cajun Field... and gave up 60+ to Tulsa. Year 7 fact.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Yes. He fixed Lafayette traffic and we put him onto fixing the UL defense.

And to think his real strength is with Housing and Urban Development.

$500 RCAF contribution gets you a million dollar football coach and 2 f'd up parking passes for basketball.

A change may not even be made at that point. I know the point which will come next, "it costs more to keep him than replace him". That is due to the lost support belief. That misses one thing, you still have to find someone or a combination of folks to write the check. That is likely around 2 million dollars. In this economy, no one will do that. Therefore, I think threads like this are pointless and accomplish nothing other than helping people vent. Having said all this does not mean I think we are getting our money's worth. We should have better results as our staff is one of the most highly compensated in our league. Finally, I don't think the defensive staff forgot how to coach and they were fairly successful a year ago. I conclude the talent on that side of the ball is fairly lacking and I question how much they can improve. That is a shame as our offense is vastly improved. Their future is bright as almost that entire unit returns next season. Can reinforcements be brought in to help the defense will tell the tale on next year. At this stage we will just have to outscore people to have any success in 2017.
The one thing you left out is determination. Sometimes a positive gesture and support of programs and policies you don't like because they are your college mean something to some one. For various reasons I haven't been to Cajun Field since 2010 and have maintained my tickets. We need a competent, complimentary athletic department for this Banana Republic State (how many have been from two?) who can get its name and message out like the vulnerable B.F. Goodrich tire and that is UL. Like Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Southern Miss, East Carolina, etc.

Stick to the basics: cold milk, Meche's Donuts, and basketball. Keep your kool!

No great program exists with passive fans. The president, and AD simply aren't geared to using the pink slips without outside motivation. That's a good system because fans want instant and continual success, while administrators stability.

Gonna bump this to the top. It's time we quit letting the meathead embarrass the program.

    1. ACT scandal which resulted in sanctions.
    2. Losing season, looks like we are in for another.
    3. Trump statements(Video didn't bother me). Insults the fan base.
    4. Putting hands on Stevie Artigue.
    5. Exodus of players, including starters.
    6. Failure to hold himself ACCOUNTABLE!
