Do we have the money to buy his contract out? How much money are we talking about?
Who do we get? Art briles son? Or Steve spurrier' son? Both were coordinators under their dads. Or Canada from lsu?

Rebowe is a better coach than recruiter. He has an eye for talent and he gets high quality young men to play above their heads.

Hud's contract runs through 2020 and no, we do not have the money to buy him out. It is my strong opinion that unless we go 3 and 9 or worse, a replacement won't be considered. A change may not even be made at that point. I know the point which will come next, "it costs more to keep him than replace him". That is due to the lost support belief. That misses one thing, you still have to find someone or a combination of folks to write the check. That is likely around 2 million dollars. In this economy, no one will do that. Therefore, I think threads like this are pointless and accomplish nothing other than helping people vent. Having said all this does not mean I think we are getting our money's worth. We should have better results as our staff is one of the most highly compensated in our league. Finally, I don't think the defensive staff forgot how to coach and they were fairly successful a year ago. I conclude the talent on that side of the ball is fairly lacking and I question how much they can improve. That is a shame as our offense is vastly improved. Their future is bright as almost that entire unit returns next season. Can reinforcements be brought in to help the defense will tell the tale on next year. At this stage we will just have to outscore people to have any success in 2017.

3 more years of this garbage, thanks sf for locking the coach in.

Giving a place for fans to vent is one of the main reasons there are fan forums at all.

I doubt hud is here in 2020. Why not pull the trigger if we have another mediocre season if we have great options for bringing in someone better?

Regardless of how you look at it, we were not "suppose" to win the game tonight or next week. We got lucky and had enough offense to keep it somewhat a ballgame.

This statement supports the original poster's opinion that Hud should be fired.

The Cajun football program is in year 6 (or is it 7) with a Head Coach at the reigns who is making $1,000,000 / year and is not even expected to compete with a program like Tulsa.

Do you think that is acceptable, lifetimecajun?

Absolutely NOT! My statement is what the the talking heads around the program have said all offseason when predicting our records. Everyone said we would be 1-2 to start the season. We should be able to beat the southern Miss's of the world, the Tulsa's. And some people want us in the Big 12 or a better conference. We can't even win the dam conference we in

I don't like losing either but, I'm not going to tarnish the memories I'm about to make watching Jordan Davis, Elijah Mitchell, Trey Regis, Raheem Malone and Raymond Calais play by spending time hating on HUD. These guys are fun to watch.

It didn't take a football guru to predict we'd start 1/3. The question here is were we competing well or poorly. I'm saying regardless of the record we've completed poorly in some phases of the game. Our offense and special teams offense has been very good. Our defense simply horrible, and kicking very spotty.

I'm thinking that the defense has no where to go but up, and the kicking game back to normal very solid when our guy gets well.

Can't tell you how much of the defensive problems are being outmatched, out coached, or out techniqued, but it's gotta improve a lot to be just bad.

As usual CajunsMike is a voice of reason. The coach is not getting fired mid season. You get fired in season for borderline criminal activity or massive underachieving. Neither are happening at this time.
I know I am in the minority but I actually think HUD and his staff are good coaches but horrible recruiters and talent evaluators. Over the past 7 years anytime we have good personnel we seem to have success on that side of the ball. It looks like we finally have a division 1 QB and an OL who can move so now we look competent. Presently we have a dearth (or too young) of talent on Defense and we look like keystone cops. To be clear I do think the lack of talent falls on Huds shoulders.
Moving forward HUD needs to either get a new recruiting coordinator or revamp how he targets recruits. If not, he will certainly soon be out of a job.
