We are currently on ULM's level, the bottom of FBS, with a lame duck coach, just soaking in a big paycheck and most people with sense, knows he should be fired, and we can't because we don't have the balls or the cash and we just watch the program spiral downward to a place where we thought we would never return. Are we having fun yet?
I think the Cajuns will be 4-2 after the next 3 games. They squeaked out a win against a marginal 1-aa team and lost 2 games on the road where they were double digit underdogs. I am very pleased with the new offense and find the Cajuns entertaining to watch for the first time since Broadway was healthy.
The defense was abysmal the first 2 games but showed some signs of life against aTm.
I don't see a coach coasting or a team in a downward spiral. Before the season started I thought we would win 5 or 6. I now think 6 or 7.
I wish this team had more talent on defense. There really isn't an excuse for being as thin at LB as we are. This is on our recruiting and retention.
I think his chances of getting let go at the end of the year go up slightly if he loses to ULM. But if he still gets a bowl birth all the hollering done here will amount to little. All the other stuff you mentioned.... morale, etc has already happened and the administration has adjusted to the lower numbers. If they go lower, they will readjust accordingly, just like corporations who make less money.
I know you disagree, but all the fire HUD talk is nothing more than an unwanted distraction at this point. There will be a time when he will have to answer for his record, but it will probably be after this season or next season.
But go ahead, bang your drum if it makes you happy. I prefer to watch football without thinking about firing the coach after every bad play call or blown assignment. I watched first hand as my LSU friends did the exact same thing you are doing and they seemed pretty miserable to me.
