Hill is still out with an injury. Coach Hud said recently he expects him to be available for Texas A&M. Some will say why not redshirt a guy who will miss 1/6 of the season. Answe is he should not miss any conference games and the struggles we had on defense Saturday night indicate anyone who can help should be brought on board. Update: when first posted I did not realize Coach has said Hill may play Saturday. That is encouraging as it indicates he is recovering quickly from his injury.

    Concerning:
    1. Defense
    2. Lack of adjustment on defense
    3. Rush defense
    4. Gave up too many points on defense
Add few penalties as a positive and kick coverage as a negative. Kick coverage did get better in second half. Also add made big play at most critical time as a positive.

Why didn't Hill play Saturday? Maybe wasn't fully back from the injury earlier in training camp. I was very fearful when I noticed he wasn't in the program, unless I missed it.

You guessed correctly on why Hill did not play against SLU.

Tulsa is not Boise State, nor are they the same Tulsa team as the previous two seasons. If we are not competing well in this game, it will not bold well for this team rest of the season.

I've talked to enough people since Saturday night to come to the reality that low expectations have set in for a number of fans. They are no longer holding on to the rope, it's become a shoe string. The standard Hud set in his first four years is the benchmark. With the increase request in donation levels, tickets and tailgating lots, the expectation for a better product is much higher.

    T,

    (Or anyone for that matter)

With the jaw injury to Hoggins, I thought for sure Calais would get a couple of carries. I'd like to see him used a bit like he was at Celcia and get a bubble screen or two maybe the wheel route as he has great hands. I think he needs to get the ball more often.

The other RB's do look good but Calais seems to be a weapon we should use more often. I think I saw him in there for pass protection a time or two? Give that kid the rock!

Plan to see him used on offense Saturday.

He might have been a little winded. Dude was kinda busy taking it to the house, the long way, twice.

I think he's a force, and if healthy the run defense will visibly improve the second he steps on the field. It's a shame that the best pure defensive linemen is a true freshman, but let's not let a less qualified upper classmen play so that he can redshirt.

Speaking of, is there ANYWHERE a man can watch those kickoff returns? I clicked on an Advertiser video of Calais's great game and instead of seeing him streaking down the field, it was his post-game interview. Drats. ESPN had two highlights on our game, both were SLU touchdowns. Farkers.
