Had the team played better, most students still would have left. Today's students care very little about athletics. It matters little to them what the outcome is. They only go initially for social purposes. It is now that way at most schools that are not part of the P5. Granted it may be worst here. I will repeat a key point. They would have left regardless of how thw team was performing.

This is my point also. When I got back from the game their were several students sitting on the patio of my neighbor. Some were sorority and fraternity members. When ask if they attended the game all said no. When asked why none replied. Win or lose, they care lest about sports. Unless it's the sport of Drinking, Smoking and, well you know the third part. So it is my assumption that they come for the start of the game as a gathering point to get together with friend and make plans for the second half party, which is certainly not to observe the game to it fullest. This didn't start yesterday, but has been gong on for years. So get use to it and enjoy the game.

I too am disappointed that so many people choose to stay home or leave at half time. It is not just students, but others as well. Many are long time supporters of UL who, for some reason or other, just don't have the same passion as in the past.

But I'm not going to get an ulcer worrying about things I can't control! All I can control is what I do. I'll continue to attend and stay till the end of games, win or loose. But I'm getting too old to worry about youngsters and some oldsters who apparently are not as big a fan of the Cajuns as some of us.

However, I will admit that performances like Saturday continue to make it more difficult to keep up the effort!

My wife don't even worry about that anymore......and yes, students drinking, smoking and rubbing bellies with the ladies will always take precedent over a football game. Guys this isn't rocket science, bring better teams in. The casual fan and student doesn't want to see an FCS school or sun belt competition. I don't see why we keep trying to spin it on here, we won't draw 30k again it's a pipe dream.

Its more than that. We started with McNeese last year, at team that we sold out Cajun Field the last time they were here plus some. We had roughly 24,000, maybe a tad more to start the season. We've had Kansas State and Oklahoma State in here, neither time did we even come close to a capacity crowd. Its more than just bringing in better teams.

I can't speak for everyone but i know the entire group we tailgate with and go to games with which includes roughly 25 people missed the game and it was generally by choice. Most just chose to spend their labor day weekend elsewhere. There is a level of apathy that has taken over and I can say its mostly to do with Hud. Not saying they won't be going to other home games but other choices seem to look much better these days.

You're not going to get a capacity crowd just by having Boise St come in every 10 years. We have to have marquee games, every year, and COMPETE (and god forbid, WIN) in those games. You also have to couple that with conference championships and a consistently stellar overall record.

But he was saying that we need to have better competition. Again, we've seen better competition come in and our attendance has not matched the competition. There is a growing apathy that resides and it is due to more than one factor. I just can't pinpoint what they all are.

BTW, Boise was a marquee game. That was the one game where you would think that people would turn out in droves. They didn't. McNeese was another where it doesn't need to be a marquee game. With the past rivalry we've had with them, we should always have a near capacity crowd at the least. Didn't happen either.

I'll say it again. People don't come because they don't think we can win those marquee games. You have to show the ability to compete and win in order to peak interest.

Just having Boise St on the scoreboard is not going to attract fans.
