As I respect you opinion I will say this there are only 4 sunbelt teams that won and we are one of them. So do you respect a team that lost last night more than a team that won. it doesn't matter how you win or by how many points as long as you beat the teams you are suppose to beat and we did that. Lets see what happens at Tulsa then we will have factual data to judge this team on.

Sorry. That just isn't true. We can postpone judgement of our team until the cows come home. But to eek out a win over an FCS program... at home... isn't more impressive than holding your own against a P5. It isn't even close.

I hope our players and coaches aren't content with that W and think they're going to play like that against Tulsa and aTm... and not bring loads of shame to themselves, their families, the fans and our school. The offense was excellent against SLU. The defense sucked a vacuum that would drain an ocean. Special Teams coverage was "Horrible Teams" coverage.

Who knows what will happen from here on out... but that defense was TERRIBLE. And I think our coaches need to own that. If they don't, and we are that untalented, we're going to get burned 1000 times this season. I watched to see if SLU was holding and playing dirty. They were not. Our defense and special teams over pursued and played right in to some vastly more ntelligent schemes put on us by SLU's coaching staff. Thank goodness we've, once again, got some great skill players to bale Hud's coaching staff out. They barely did it. But they did it.

Not sure why you guys are so disrespectful towards SLU. We are a D1 school just like UL. We can win the same National championships as UL in every sport except football. In football we compete in the D1 Football Championship Subcatagory. You guys show a lack of knowledge regarding D1 vs.D2

I also didn't appreciate whoever ripped my SLU flag from my back window after the game. I came to Lafayette to watch a good game, spend the night and spend Some money at some local restaurants which I did.

That's the thing, the except football thing is something. We've lost to yall in Baseball and Basketball and while it's sucked, it's not the kind of negative that losing to yall in football would be. Add on to that, that yall had never beaten a FBS opponent, that would be a black eye on our school. I don't even think yall are that bad of a team for your classification, but at our level of football, if we want to be a decent bowl team, losing to a team that I think will be middle of the road in the SLC would basically mean that we are in for a VERY long season.


I do wish yall good luck the rest of the season, and I hope yall win the southland and make the playoffs.

Do we still win that game with Jennings at QB? I feel he would have thrown a pick at some critical point. Davis was not anything special and he certainly missed a few throws, but he didn't turn it over.

My point was that Davis would have had more experience this year if we had not played Anthony Jennings last year.

Let's be honest here. We won the game we didn't beat anyone. SLU opted to live or die on a single play. They could have almost certainly tied the game, and that outcome is definitely up in the air. I don't subscribe to play for the win on the road and tie at home. It all depends on how you're playing. We tried to tie Florida and we saw how that turned out.

Yes, couldn't believe they threw the ball on third down. Pretty upsetting that when it counts this Coaching staff is not confident enough in o-line to gain 4 yards against FCS d-line.

The OLine was terrible last year and while it looked better last night, we weren't really opening up big holes. As a matter of fact, both of our lines were kind of knocked around and manhandled much of the night. Because of those reasons, I saw why they went with the play call to pass on 3rd down. If we get it, game is kind of over at that point. The issue I had with it was that JD was actually struggling in the short passing game while he looked really good on the deep passes. I was more worried about passing based on that versus our line.

This was bad, bad football. WE won. To try to find anything positive other than that is risible.

We ran into a team with similar talent and somehow pulled it out. We will probably have another 5 or 6 games where we match up athletically. If we win those 5 to 6 additional games this staff will have done its job coaching these guys up.

It is the offseason where UL is getting crushed. Hud and staff are basically recruiting a glorified 1AA program. The proof is in the few number of players who challenge for All-SBC awards or make it to the next level.

If our staff would of had Davis run more clock down before the snap on 2nd and 3rd down up by 7 and under 5 minutes the end of the game, ran instead of thrown on third and let the ball roll dead inside the 10 instead of rush and down it at the 5, you would had been in the parking lot. There is a good 30-40 seconds of clock we gave SLU.

I mention this to my friend during that series. Davis snapped the ball at 21 and 19 seconds during that drive. That's 30+ seconds we gave on two plays. I think SLU had two time outs left. Let them use it.

That play call though.

Play call wasn't that bad. The QB just missed WIDE open guy in the endzone. Good rush on our part to make him have to make a quicker decision but he just missed his guy wide open.

He has his erratic moments. But I think he will succeed. Remember, he is in a growth process

Junior year brother, he doesn't have a lot of time left to incubate this "growth" Having said that, I will actually say that I was more impressed with him than I thought I'd be. He struggled in the short passing game and missed easy throws but put the mid range and longer route passes on the money which is encouraging. He also seemed to make the right decision quite a bit more than I thought he would which was a major concern of mine. We will get a better idea of which JD to expect this season next week. Tulsa will be a big step up in competition although their defense doesn't appear to be a juggernaut either so I'm anxious to see how he does.

Every receiver is wide open, gaping holes at the line of scrimmage, awful tackling, lack of desire..

Entire defense looks slow and lost. I can't believe what I'm watching.

I was more concerned with missed gap assignments by the linebackers. I thought they were terrible and unfortunately, I don't think they are talented enough to get a whole lot better. The DL had its moments and they fought hard. What gets me is that we are playing a power running team with a 3-2-6 lineup as well as our 4-2-5 sets. Why not put an extra linebacker in there to help with the run?

Wrong, it was not a high school game. I came to that conclusion after I could not listen to the radio broadcast anymore because the LOUD speakers were drowning out my earbuds that were cranked up to 90% in my ears. Its ridiculousness loud. 90% of high schools you cant even hear the announcer

Poor band only played for about 10 minutes of the game towards the end of the game.

I heard the same noise! Trying to listen to radio broadcast is painful. The volume is cranked up too high. Jay says they like when they "can open the windows" and let the listeners hear the roar of the crowd. I don't want to hear the PA system over the radio! (It is way too loud in the stadium!)
All I want is to be able to hear the play-by-play. Increasing the volume just distorts the sound. Then, on top of that, Jay has to yell into the microphone. Just turn down the decibels a few notches. I am not saying you do not have to get excited. Just lower the noise level so we can hear what he is saying.

However, I totally get "in game" frustrations and don't consider them lock down opinions.

UL has a lot of bright spots and work spots.

Not to mention WEAK spots!
