Well said, especially about bashing other schools and fans, however, being somewhat a hypocrite when I say this, can't get on board with Mickey neese and loly poly. Those schools and media have bashed us for years.
Questions: this is a NCAA/FCS rule that really irks me, transfer from FBS to FCS without having to sit out a year. I wonder how many FBS transfers were on SLUs team?
Geaux Cajuns
I don't know the numbers but it appears FBS transfers played a big role in last night's game for SLU.
They were hungry and wanted the win and darned near pulled it off. Hats off to 'em. It'll be interesting to see how they fare the rest of the season.
As for the Cajuns, seems like everything was reversed as to what we expected. Expected exceptional defense and that obviously didn't happen. Offense was the big question mark and look what happened! QB and running backs seem to be solid, moreso the latter, but qb should only improve with playing time.
Fix the defense, fast, and we may have a decent squad.
Just went and looked at their FB roster, 42 players come from transfers from other FBS, colleges, CC , Jr Colleges from all over the US. It amazes me how players come to know LA FCS schools. Give those schools Athletics Departments a "Hats Off" for recruiting. Just curious. Now, will they be players who knows.
Is ESPN the only spot for highlights? I found a total of 2 viddys there, both were of SLU touchdowns.
Wrong, it was not a high school game. I came to that conclusion after I could not listen to the radio broadcast anymore because the LOUD speakers were drowning out my earbuds that were cranked up to 90% in my ears. Its ridiculousness loud. 90% of high schools you cant even hear the announcer
Poor band only played for about 10 minutes of the game towards the end of the game.
If there would not have been the Anthony Jennings experiment last year we would not be in the "need to get the quarterback experience" situation now. If you score over 50 points you should win the game. We needed not one but two returns for touchdown to win the game. Defense defense defense.
Plenty of negatives to espouse, but I'll say that I thought the Oline played well. I thought Davis' accuracy on deep throws was encouraging. (His intermediate to short passing game was actually very poor and he needs to learn to throw a touch pass when the situation calls for it). Obviously encouraged by our KO and punt returners. Still very high on our WR corps, although Jacquet was brutal last night. Ragas and Mitchell showed their potential as well.
Feels like I post this every year, but you "a win is a win" people either don't know ____ about football, or are casual fans that care more about socializing than watching and analyzing what's happening on the field. Either way, spare the rest of us from your drivel. Several here put in tons of time, effort, money, support, emotion, and sacrifice for this program to open a season like that. No, it's not ok. No, it wasn't "well SLU came to win". STOP.
