Who knew Harvey would split in half and go around both sides of Acadiana?
That's what I'm saying. You'll have a lot of people that are looking at the weather today and commenting "why are schools closed?" The call was made when we were forecasted to be right in the path and get flooding rain. Some people don't care about that, though. It's always "the schools never get it right!" It'll also happen later in the year as it always does-because 3 weather days were used already, UL or the public schools will be reluctant to cancel for a day that they REALLY should cancel for. The "they never get it right" mantra will continue.
Bottom line is if you don't feel safe going to class or having your kid go to school, stay home. Don't rely on the school.
The University re-opens on August 31, 2017. Classes will resume as normal.

This isn't the 1970's. We are updated minute by minute of the changes in the forecasts. The worst case scenario on this storm that we were told ad naseum was no reason to cancel school for several days where the impact was extremely minimal. No need to try and back track about comparing Harvey to last years floods. No need to...I know what your shtick is.
