Thread: Hurricane Harvey's Path Through UL Class Scheduling

  1. Louisiana Hurricane Harvey's Path Through UL Class Scheduling

The University of Louisiana will be open Monday, Aug. 28. Classes will be held as scheduled.

Students who are not able to travel to classes should contact professors to discuss their situation. If a student needs further assistance, he or she can contact the Dean of Students Office at deanofstudents@louisiana.edu or 337-482-6276.

I suspect that there will be a few empty classrooms today.

I'm a little skeptical with UL opening classes today. There's a lot of students who commute from low lying areas around Acadiana who are in the danger zone of possible flooding. I would think that the university would've thought twice about this since a tropical storm is right on our doorstep.

  4. Default Update on classes for Aug. 28

Today's classes (Monday) that start 3 p.m. or later have been cancelled. University operations and offices close at 5 p.m. today. Next update at 6 p.m.

There are nearly zero instances were the University or local schools will make a weather decision that is not only the correct one, but one that will please everyone. There's no reason that school could not have been held on Monday afternoon, yesterday and today. If anything, they should have just closed Monday. But you'd have people blowing up social media, writing letters and calling the University and school board either way.

Monday seemed like the only day even the forecast didn't seem that bad.

Who knew Harvey would split in half and go around both sides of Acadiana?
