For those that have not heard, the offense dominated this scrimmage. While I was there they scored 5 TD's and had one FG in nine possessions. There was good balance between run and pass in plays called. I only saw one penalty on the offense which is encouraging. I did see one PI on the defense but it prevented a big gain. Lots of passes were quick hitters but Davis did connect on a couple of long balls. Every skill player did well as I did not see one dropped pass although Jordan Wright did fumble once. Not surprising offense would have the upper hand as many top defensive guys did not participate. Heat also got to defense late in affair. Hud seemed disappointed in that but the rain has prevented much outside work lately. Another negative was two snaps over the QB's head and one over the punter's head. The regular center who is Cole Prudhomme did not participate however. What I saw today has not change two of my views. One, Elijah Mitchell will be one of the top freshman in the conference and 2) our QB play will be the best since Broadway's junior year.

........So I sit between C-Mike and another oil field dude and they are talking Texaco oil---shame......ok kidding......we also talked a little '17 recruiting....we have maybe 6 true freshmen that could get extensive playing time not because of being necessarily weak at a position but because they can flat out PLAY.....I love Dion Ray and his improved passing too with his talented feet.....although he might not have the power of Ragas or the speed of Calais, Mitchell combines very much of both.......I have never seen a higher elevation (ergo hang time) by a UL punter, maybe some ice on the ball in a cold game.....we have some very good skilled guys and hope it can come together!!!
